| There's something terribly eerie about the San Fernando Valley's flat, suburban landscape. While all eyes are on Hollywood, who knows what's lurking just over the hill. It's where the fiends and dirty secret keepers can hide. This is where, "To Bury Meg," was birthed from. I had this imaginary genre in mind: "Americana Goth," or "New Goth," maybe. I'm sure a critic could encapsulate it into a better buzz phrase. But basically, I wanted to inject that romantic darkness from goth and transpose it into a modern tale; without using those tired aesthetics that are sold at the mall. It's not horror, but it's frightening. A love story at it's gloomy core. My friend, Thom Surprenant picked up on that vibe right off the bat, and amazingly designed and handcrafted the Passenger Masks. Additionally, the lividity make-up design he executed for Meg was lauded by an actual paramedic. You'll also see what inspired the "Swallow," video for Buffalo Roam within the first minutes. So here it is...what I come back with after running around the Valley in the middle of the night with a camera. Enjoy. |
